How Does Dental Sedation Work?
At our office, we provide you with a prescription strength sedative during your appointment. The sedative causes you to become quite sleepy and/or drowsy. Many feel like they are asleep and have felt like they had been dreaming their way through their entire appointment.
However, you will still be able to answer simple questions during the procedure. Sometimes many people do not even remember the visit because the sedative also contains an amnesiac. It’s almost if you slept right through your dentist appointment!
Your Dental Sedation Experience
The effects of the sedative will usually last from 4 to 6 hours before gradually wearing off. Someone will need to come with you to your appointment and drive you home afterward.
Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?
Oral sedation is VERY safe for all ages, from adults to children. We offer it to our own family members who need dental care!
